Small Boat Challenge
The BBSC/FWYC Small Boat Challenge began in 2005 as a venue for small
boat sailors from Bluewater Bay Sailing Club and Ft Walton Yacht Club
to get together and sail. Early in the development of this series, it
was decided that there would be an even number of races. Half of the
races are held at BBSC and the other half at FWYC.
The orgainizers decided that there would be a 75% participation
requirement to be considered for a trophy. If you sailed in at least
75% of the races, your top 75% scores would be used to determine your
position. The overall scoring was based on a high-point system.
During the early stages of this series, the organizers from BBSC and
FWYC decided that a perpetual trophy would be a good idea in addition
to the individual awards. As a result, a new trophy was commissioned.
This goes to the winning club at the end of the Challenge series.
The winning club is determined by combining the scores of the top 3
sailors from each club.
In order to offset the cost of food, shirts and awards, local companies were approached for sponsorship.
