Who are we?

Fort Walton Yacht Club (FWYC) is a private club for use by its members, their families, and guests. It was established for the enjoyment of boating, racing, and social activities. As a member of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs and the Gulf Yachting Association, FWYC enjoys reciprocal privileges with many other yacht clubs along the northern gulf coast and throughout the state of Florida.

Located on the western end of Choctawhatchee Bay, on the west side of Smack Point, the club offers boat slips and dry storage areas for club members' use. Transient slips are available for visitors from other yacht clubs. At the northern end of Ferry Road, the FWYC boundaries contain a large patio, picnic areas with gazebos, and include swimming and fishing areas.

In the clubhouse will be found the lounge, and dining and meeting rooms. The culinary department, which caters numerous special functions booked by the members, offers a grill menu on the weekends, and features two special nights weekly for members' dining enjoyment. On Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. is "Cook Your Own Steak Night", allowing inspired and aspiring chefs to prepare a diner's chosen entree from a variety of cuts of beef, chicken, and fish. Salad and hot bars, plus tables with a variety of breads and desserts, top off this evening's casual dining treats. This is popular not only with our members, but also with visitors from nearby yacht clubs, who will drive here or dock for an overnight stay. Reservations are accepted for Friday evening dining from 6:00to 8:30 p.m. Choosing from our regular menu items or the specials of the week is often difficult with all the delicious offerings.

Sailboat racing enthusiasts enjoy the competitive events, with most races organized and sponsored by the club. An active Junior program promotes and trains young people in boating and sailing activities, and encourages participation in the training programs by youths in the surrounding communities.

The Letter Log, the club's official monthly publication, is mailed to all members and nearby clubs to keep everyone informed of upcoming events.
